Making the body blank part 2

Planing the oak down to the same level as the meranti on one half

and that's two halves ready for gluing...

 ...and glued up

And now we have a body blank with the design outline drawn on

A new build begins! Starting the body blank

Time for a new guitar build

I've just been given some wood so it only seems appropriate that I start another build...

What we have here is a length of meranti door step, a piece of tongue (lots more available) and groove maple flooring, and a length of oak, so what am I going to make with this?  Well a guitar obviously, however this time I'm aiming to only use hand tools for the whole of the build...

First I chopped the meranti in two and as it's not wide enough I've also cut some of the oak to build out the body width.

So this should make a good body blank...

...and the design based on an old Yamaha RGX 612

Gluing oak to meranti to make one side of the blank...

 ...and the other side.

Next job to glue the two halves together.
